THOMAS CRANMER - THE ACCIDENTAL MARTYR by Neil Weatherall,  7.30pm, Monday 3 November - Upstairs @ North London Tavern

“Thomas Cranmer was the first Protestant Archbishop of Canterbury and the first ever to (openly) take a wife. When the Catholic Queen Mary comes to the throne, Thomas is imprisoned in the Tower of London, charged with heresy, which carries a sentence of death by fire. Desperate to be with his beloved wife and children again, he finds himself dependent on the goodwill of his old friend from university, Stephen Gardiner.”

Neil Weatherall is a London based playwright and filmmaker. He has previously worked in teaching, sales, cybersecurity, and the military. The last new play he showcased at Player-Playwrights won an Offies award and was a finalist for London Pub Theatres Magazine’s Best New Writing Award 2023. One reviewer called it 'a masterpiece'.”
