Player Playwrights exists as a space where writers and actors support each other. Our members turn up to watch and critique new work regularly. If you're only interested in seeing your play get a professional reading and have it critiqued by a theatre literate audience and don't intend becoming part of that collective, Player Playwrights is not for you.

What our members say:

Membership consists of writers, and professional actors who perform the weekly readings and appear in the resulting productions.
Philip Philmar is a successful film actor: “The great thing about Player-Playwrights is how supportive it is. We really want plays to succeed.”

Meetings are weekly during term-time and facilitate discussion and feedback on Members’ scripts to help develop them further.
Francis Beckett has had several plays produced at London venues: “Thorough-going knowledgeable feedback is essential if you want to produce the best version of your work.”

Members’ collective knowledge and experience is supplemented by regular guest speakers who are professionals in their fields.
One such is Kimberley Andrews of London Playwrights Workshop: “However advanced you are as a playwright it is vital to remain teachable. There is always something new to learn.”
