Competition rules

Every season we run a short play contest which is open to all our Members...

FOR OUR SUMMER COMPETITION: The Journey

 

Our summer competition entitled THE JOURNEY (via Zoom) on 15 June is open for submissions.

 

The rules are as follows:

 

Scripts should be limited to between 1000-1500 words (word count to be marked on script, please) including spoken stage directions.
 

Monologues will not be accepted. Entries to be in Word format rather than pdf.
Scripts to include two to four characters (of either sex) with a list of their names. The author's name must not appear.
 

Authors may suggest casting, but the final choice will be at the discretion of casting secretary, Lynne O'Sullivan.
 

Authors may have ONE read-through with the cast and give brief notes.
 

Authors are responsible for arranging this themselves via their own Zoom facility.
 

The cast are asked not to reveal the names of authors, so that as far as possible these are not known.

 

Competition entry deadline is Monday 1st June.

Only the first ten entries received will be accepted, but we may be able to arrange readings of surplus scripts on another occasion.
 

The script submitted will be the final one. No amendment of scripts will be permitted.
Following the competition, scores must be emailed to Lynne by Thursday
18 June.

 

Results to be announced Friday 19th June.
 

Authors are not permitted to vote for their own entry.
 

(As competition organiser, Lynne does not score the plays).
