Shooting The Pilot: an evening with Marks & Gran, 7.30, Monday 10 January 2022

This event is live Upstairs at the North London Tavern

The legendary writing team of Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran will be discussing their new book, Shooting the Pilot, and the art of writing classic TV sitcoms.

The book includes six hit pilot scripts, Like Birds of a Feather and The New Statesman, plus the "one that got away".

Lady Ottoline Pierpoint’s Guide to Intimate Behaviour for Gentlewomen was a pilot they wrote which never got made.

A reading of the pilot will be followed by a discussion on why they think it didn't get made and about the changing TV comedy market in the UK.

The online events proved a success and so for this coming season we plan to alternate between live events at our old home, Upstairs at the North London Tavern, and online via Zoom.

This event will be live Upstairs at the NLT
