Young children are dying on the operating table. Why? Gagged is about the NHS, and a junior doctor’s struggle to prevent child mortality in the paediatric surgery unit of a Bristol hospital. Five characters relay their interactions with Doctor Ford and from them we deduce what happened to him and why. Against the backdrop of the creeping privatisation of the NHS, Gagged asks what safeguards are necessary for patient care and what change is needed in us if we want to save an institution that we love.
