LoveKnots by Ian Reade, 7.30pm, Monday 29 November - On Zoom

Restoration England in the wake of Cromwell is a riotous one, imbued with excess and opportunities to succeed for those with talent and the courage to use it.

LoveKnots tells the story of the life and times of one of Britain’s greatest actors, Elizabeth Barry, set against the backdrop of this wonderfully fun and colourful period.

Handicapped by her lack of natural talent and looks, but imbued with huge determination, Barry’s working life is, for many years, one of intense struggle and conflict.

This a 60 minute episode from a planned TV series.

This first episode deals with the very beginning of Elizabeth’s career and her battles with the opposite sex, poverty and her lack of natural talent, in order to earn the right to perform on the stage of one of only two licensed theatres.

LoveKnots is under option by Art and Adventure Productions until April 2022.

Ian has also now turned the story into a novel and is also seeking representation for the story in this format.

Our online events during the lockdown proved a success and so for this season we are alternating between live events at our traditional home, Upstairs at the North London Tavern, and online via Zoom.
